There is beauty in tradition, when choosing where you get married it is wonderful when it is a place that has special significance to the couple.
Genoa is a beautiful little town in Nevada, at the base of the mountain where Lake Tahoe is located. It has history, simple elegance, and a community that feels like family. This was a wedding I had the pleasure of getting to photograph in 2022, so it was very fun looking back at this wedding and seeing not only how far I’ve come with my photography even since then but the beautiful memories of that day!
It was a wonderful adventure to be able to go and capture K & W’s special day. I got to start off the day hanging out with the groomsmen and bridesmaids, both groups were SO much fun!
Then once all the guys were shooed away, it was time for a very special moment between K and her father. When a dad sees his daughter for the first time as a new bride it is a beautifully tearful moment.
Being a bridesmaid is a special role, they are chosen by the bride based on their relationship and connection. They are the ladies that a bride wants next to her while she makes such a huge step in life. These ladies were chosen very well, and showed their love and support throughout the entire day.
When everyone was ready to go, the bride was extremely excited to be able to get into her dad’s “awesome car” and be taken to the little church.
The church, only large enough for 80 people within 17 pews, rebuilt in 1910 after a terrible fire, provides an intimate, historic location for a wedding. It is here that W watched with tears in his eyes as K walked up the aisle.
This couple had beautiful words to share about their love and commitment together. The groom did cause lots of chuckles when he pulled out his “mile long” scroll that he had written his vows on.
It was a beautiful ceremony and there were so many there to show their love and support for the bride and groom.
One of the benefits of having a wedding in a small town is that the location of the ceremony is just a short walk away from the location of the reception venue.
You know what that means, it’s time to eat, it’s time to dance, it’s time to celebrate!
Best of luck to the beautiful couple and all the wonderful adventures you will go on together!
